4. My Day By Train!

The rhythmic sound of the train...and the hypnotic swaying movement was of a kind to put one to sleep....seated by a aisle seat at the rear end of an AC chair car i was on my way to coimbatore for my cousins wedding...though i had been alloted a middle seat, i gave it up for a family travelling together....but i was not bothered by the fact because the seat gave me the advantage of an unobstructed view of the happenings in the train.......the hustle bustle of the vendors crying out for eateries......" Chai, Chai, Masal Chai", "Vadai, Vadai, Cutlets"....and poeple moving about to and fro....getting out and getting in .....having caught the train at the nick of time.....but one aspect that struck me as surpurising was the absence of the beggars singing in their nasal tones....hindi songs with their south india accent! ( a common enough sight in the trains in Kerala even in AC compartments) .......HOWEVER, thinking of the seven to eight hours journey ...i gave a huge sigh! i mean how to spend those hours , when one hasn't carried any book or magazine along.....no worries.....friends i whiled away my time either sleeping, muching away , scribbling my thoughts or watching the going ons....one inccident i remember to date was that of the TC coming in to check the tickets of two young boys who got in by mistake they said...i was somehow touced by that....the boys did not seem to know that it was AC compartment and would have to pay the difference on the ticket! Who knows they could be kidding..but something about it made me saa.....dd!
