"Forever” is a word which has an important connotation esp in today’s world, where friendships are getting to be more superficial, based mainly on materialistic aspects or other outer gains to one self…don’t get me wrong..but that’s what I have seen of most people( my peers included)…. ..If u ask me the true value of friendship I will just repeat an old quote by someone that goes something like “ To Know the meaning of friendship u can look into a dictionary. But to know how much it means, u need to have a friend! ” …but with my modification that adds one u can argue with…one who would point out your wrongs...but still accept u as u r.
I am really lucky in that matter..because I believe that I have some really good friends ..who have supported me whenever I needed it!! Been there for me…I will try and introduce u to them in this blog of mine.
But, if u had seen me in my school days would never believe it….I was an introvert who did not have much friends and I rarely used to talk much …( if my present friends hear that they will be really surprised for I am supposed to be talkative , their words) ..but all that changed part by part …..i got into college for my degree…that was when I made my two best friends..both bubbly, warm , a little maddd like me….my best friends I am still in touch with ..both r married with kids now..but when we get together we become more like kids ourselves…..they say marriage changes friendships..maybe,.we’re not able to meet as often….because one is in US, the other in England and good old me in Chennai….but still the warmth , the friendship we share remains as good as ever.
Now, on to my post graduation days in Chennai, the Madras University…which was a let down at first when compared to my Graduation days…because the first year I rarely had any friends in my class..but the hostel was different , because here I made friends fast..our gang was of eight girls ..all in different classes…..i never thought it would break..but I spoke too soon…by the end of first year itself..our group started to break..jealousy, fights became a common occurance..still I have no regrets ..because I believe that even with all that …it is a trial of friendships…maybe we were not as good friends as we thought ….as we did not survive it…what ever be! I still love my college days! Because it got me three very good friends….my roommate ….one among our gang..my best friend ever …..still in touch…through phone….also try and meet up whenever in same place..my second best friend….the only guy in class who knows as well…..with him I never feel conscious…and we relate to each other pretty well….the gender factor has never come into play in our friendship. If I am talking about Chennai ..i can rarely forget one more person…..we get along real well…but , u know the best thing about our friendship..we rarely meet……or call each other up..but whenever we dooo..it’s like we’re rarely been apart!
Then comes Bangalore… …..Staying at a PG, even with all the problems I faced …….my triumphs are the friends I acquired there….who to date remains close to me! The one’s I made in the PG, be it my roommate( we get along famously….so what if we may disagree on matters..that has never influenced our friendship) or the other friends ( if i go on to mention each one my blog could very well go on forever) ….I should also make a mention pf my good friend…..in my ex- office….like we say “ Office choot gaya toh kya…..our friendship remains as good as ever!
